These are charities that will been supported by the Betsy Smith Memorial 5K. While some are subject to change from year to year, ReaLife will remain a recipient of support.
ReaLife
This ministry was the closest to Betsy's heart. She worked with this program while attending Taylor University and gave her heart to the kids who attend.
ReaLife is an inner-city outreach ministry for K-5th graders in Marion, IN. It is staffed by College Student Volunteers from Taylor University and IWU.
"ReaLife seeks to integrate the lives of college students with the children of Marion by building relationships and showing them the love of Jesus."
ReaLife is held every Tuesday evening from 5-9 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Grant County. Using Taylor University vehicles, staff members pick up the children at their homes and bring them to ReaLife where they enjoy a dinner, lesson, small group time, and game time.
“We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God, but our lives as well because you had become so dear to us.” I Thessalonians 2:8
The children at ReaLife come from broken and vulnerable home lives and desperately need to be shown the love of Jesus. ReaLife seeks volunteers willing to make a semester commitment and build relationships with the children of Marion.
